Joint Lattice Decoding Achieves the Optimal Diversity-Multiplexing Tradeoff of Multiple Access Channels

In this correspondence, the optimality of LAttice Space-Time (LAST) coding and decoding in the high signal-to-noise ratio regime of outage-limited multiple access channels (MACs) is established. More specifically, it is shown that mod-Λ LAST coding and minimum-mean-square-error generalized-decisionfeedback-equalizer (MMSE-GDFE) decoding achieve the optimal diversity-multiplexing tradeoff of MACs. Our proof relies on a newly-developed multi-user version of the Minkowski-Hlawka Theorem.
